Kohimarama Kitchen

Kohimarama - Auckland

Designer - Mei Ling Lee
Finalist TIDA Kitchen Design Awards

This kitchen renovation is in a house that sees a lot of family use, especially with visiting grand children. The clients knew exactly what they wanted to change with their existing kitchen which had a very open island bench and an awkward chamfered corner wall where all the cabinets met.

Sang Architects worked with them to design a public kitchen area for when they are entertaining and a private rear area for their everyday items and storage. The chamfered corner was cleverly hidden within a broom cupboard. A lower table top at the end of the bench provides a useful area for the grand children.

There are two long bench tops. One in a darker granite and the other in white, providing a lighter surface at the rear of the kitchen.

The cabinetry is Oak contrasted with dark grey, chosen to match the Oak flooring.
