Choice Plaza CBD - Commercial Architects Auckland

Central Auckland

Principal Architect - Ron Sang

Nestled amongst the mirror-glass towers of Queen Street and its environs, you will find an office building that strikes a very different note.

Orient Towers was created to fulfil the long-term dream of the Chan family, who purchased the land with its existing two-story building in the 1980s. Their goal was to build a modern office and retail building that harked back to the family’s Chinese heritage. To realise their dream the Chans commissioned Sang Architects.

The resulting 12-story building features a distinctive pagoda-style roof. It is made up of a basement, two podium levels and an eight-sided tower with nine levels. Great care was taken to specify appropriate materials in the traditional Chinese colours of red and green. The final result is a truly distinctive building that stands out in the developer-driven cityscape of the Auckland CBD.
